Does RC make custom sized Furniture?
Yes. Most of our styles can be modified to meet the dimensions needed for your project. Styles with unique shapes may not be applicable. Typically we prefer to customize only the length of the frame, as we do find it important to keep the depth from changing in order to maintain the comfort of each frame.
Upcharges are based on the complexity of the revision and are calculated “by the inch”. Keep in mind that we do need a tolerance of plus or minus 1”. The custom pricing is based per each 10” incremental change for either enlarging or down-sizing a piece. Simply provide us with your desired dimensions for evaluation.
If I see a sofa shown in fabric, can I get it made in leather instead?
All styles in the RC line are available in leather. We have an incredible offering of fine leathers from around the world. Choose from rustic, refined or dramatic colors to suit your lifestyle.
May I provide my own fabric, leather or trim?
Absolutely. RC Upholstery is known in the industry for our diverse and broad selection of beautiful fabrics, however we recognize that you may need to supplement our offering with something of your own. The industry term for this type of order is called “COM”, meaning “Customer’s Own Material”. In order to advise you of the amount of yardage required, we will need to know the fabric width and repeat as well as if the fabric is railroaded or not.
Is it possible to choose a different finish on my upholstery than what is shown?
Yes. RC has a wide range of wood finishes as well as metal finishes to work with any style or pallet.
Are there different leg or base styles that I can use on my upholstery?
The photographs on our website reflect the standard leg and base style, however most styles can accommodate various types of legs. Just let us know what you have in mind. For instance, you may like the Marlo body style, but prefer the leg style shown on the Hunter. Not a problem!
May I change the arm style on an upholstery item?
Typically, the arm shown is proportionately and stylistically appropriate for the frame, however we will be happy to modify the arm style, if possible. Perhaps the rolled arm is too large for your liking or you want to increase the height of an arm. These modifications can certainly be made if the frame can structurally accommodate it. Just let us know what you have in mind.
Can I order additional pillows for my upholstery?
Yes, RC Upholstery has a wide variety of sizes and styles to choose from for your accent pillows. If you are feeling creative and want to choose several fabrics on one pillow, go for it! How about some cord, fringe or bullion to add more pizazz to your pillow? The sky is the limit when it comes to accent pillows because we have all the bells and whistles you’ll need to make them uniquely you.
How long will my order take to manufacture?
Our standard production time is approximately 8 weeks from date of order placed. We pride ourselves in keeping all of our 1700+ fabrics & leathers in stock at all times, but occasionally we may not have a fabric readily available which may add to the lead time. We will apprise you with this information if necessary.
What choices do I have for Seat cushions?
Seat cushions are the essential ingredient for providing comfort in your upholstery. Every piece of RC Upholstery is specifically engineered to ensure the correct seat to back relationship. Everyone has their own personal preference of how firm or soft they want their sofa to feel, so we offer several options:
Down- We use a soy based high density foam core that is then wrapped in a feather-locked ticking envelope. The envelope is filled with a blend of approximately 10% White Goose down and 90% White Goose Feather to ensure comfort and durability. No ticking is 100% leak proof, so you may occasionally see a small curly feather sneak through the ticking. There is no need to be alarmed, as this is perfectly normal.
Trillium- We use a soy based high density foam core that is then wrapped in a non-woven envelope. The envelope is filled with 100% polyester fiber to ensure comfort and durability. Trillium is a micro denier gel blown polyester fiber that mimics the characteristics of down, but is hypoallergenic. It is resilient and provides a luxurious look and feel.
Foam- We use a high resilient foam core that is then wrapped with multiple foam and polyester fiber layers to ensure comfort and durability.
Ultra- These cushions are made from a high resilient, 2.5 density foam. This cushion offers more support and is firmer than our High Comfort foam cushion.
All of our cushion options meet residential California codes for flame retardancy.
Are all styles available with a sleeper option?
We have 2 different types of sleeper mechanisms, each of them are outfitted with a different type of mattress. Not every style can be made with a sleeper mechanism, so there are specific frames which have been designed to work with these units.
Please type the word “sleeper” in the search tab to see which frames are available as a sleeper.
Residential Sofa Sleeper System with Innerspring Mattress- We use one of the most proven mechanisms in the industry. It is a deep cavity unit constructed of tubular steel and a two ply ballistic decking, which can accommodate a generous 5-1/2” premium innerspring pillow top mattress. It is covered with a quilted damask that is hypoallergenic.
REM Sofa Sleeper System with High Resilient Foam Mattress- This unit has a long and proven track record in Europe where it has been manufactured for over 30 years. It features a combination of Natural Rubber webbing and Natural Beech Wooden Slats. With this unit we use a premium 3.5” foam mattress. It is covered with a quilted damask that is hypoallergenic.
Can I add a swivel base to any chair?
Several chairs in our line accommodate a swivel base, however many frames are not conducive. Whenever possible, we will gladly add a swivel base for you.
Do all items come with Arm caps included?
Arm caps are not standard on any of our styles, but may be purchased separately.
